I think I will use data collection tools as a teacher by asking students how they prefer certain learning styles. For example, in a literature class I will survey to see which students like to read silently and which students prefer being read to. I feel like this would help especially in grades three and four while kids are starting to learn big words. Each student learns differently and it will help me know each student better.      From reviewing my classmates blogs, I find the topics about distance learning very interesting. It is cool to see how each student handles Zoom. Everyone seems to have an opinion on it. Some people learn better this way, others do not.     The technology-related skill I would like to learn next is how to make cool videos with transitions. I always see people making cool transitions in their videos and I do not know how. I will start by watching videos. Then I will start practicing on my own.

In my experience as a distance learner, there have been pros and cons. One thing I like about distance learning is being able to do my work from the comfort of my room/apartment. One thing I dislike is I do not feel as connected to my teachers, and I feel like it is harder to understand the lesson over Zoom. When I am a teacher, I can help improve the experience of distance learning by making it more interactive where each kid gets a chance to speak.     Open educational resources (OER) are learning materials that are free for public teacher use that can be changed or shared. An example of an OER is Khan Academy. Khan Academy is a free site teachers can use and make a class code where kids can practice their subjects. It has questions for practice as well as step-by-step instructions on how to solve each question. Teachers can also track their students progress through Khan Academy.  https://www.khanacademy.org/signup?isteacher=1     One new skill ...

A new skill I acquired from working on the website is how to make a website. Making the actual website was difficult for me and I am still not sure if I completed it correctly. I disliked how the site was set up to actually create the website. In my future career, I will definitely use separate pages to make my website, as well as, adding links to other resources to the other students. https://education.weebly.com/weebly/main.php#/          In working with Diigo, I have learned how to highlight parts of a web page and attach notes to it. This application can be useful in my classroom for when I am trying to teach a lesson and want to show my kids something. It will be easier to find a highlighted part of a web page, rather than looking through the whole thing. With team members, I can send them specific parts of a web page I find interesting. In my individual personal efforts, it will be helpful so I can easily find what websites I am us...

I think teacher pages on school websites are a very good idea. A teacher page on a school website makes it easy for the students and even parents to see what is expected of them. When I was in elementary, middle school, and highschool I always used to check my teacher's websites to see what I had due that night. I looked at St. Anastasia Catholic School's website and a 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Stapleton has test and quiz dates on her website. She also has school events that are coming up. https://5thdimensionstas.edublogs.org/      I envision myself using technology to accomplish my professional responsibilities by definitely making my own teacher website. I will also assign my students homework that they can do virtually. Another thing I plan to do is use Zoom more. If a student must stay home sick and does not want to miss a day of class, now they can log on to Zoom.       I did not really get to work on the wiki platform because our g...

In my initial experience using Diigo I was very confused. I do not really like using Diigo because I feel as though every topic I look up I cannot find. I am not sure if I am using Diigo wrong but it is not my favorite. I hope to be able to understand it better in the future.     In my experience with blogging, I have grown to like it. At first I felt a little weird putting my thoughts out there. Now however, I think it is helpful to write out my thoughts and how I feel about different subjects. In the blogging process so far, I have learned how to better formulate my thoughts.     An interesting Web 2.0 tool I might use while teaching is Youtube. I believe youtube videos can be very helpful in helping students learn about certain topics. I remember watching Youtube videos to learn about conjunctions and it helped me a lot. Below is a link to Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/

In my early experiences using Twitter, I honestly did not know how to work it very well. It took some time to figure out, but once I did, I loved it. I mainly interact with my friends and accounts I find funny. I find the funny pages beneficial to me because they always brighten my day. I also love following inspirational quote pages. These are beneficial to me because they tell me what I need to hear and also brighten my day. Twitter might be helpful in my future career because I could interact with other teachers from all over the country, share ideas, and get advice from them.     The digital divide highly affects student success in schools. Students who grew up around technology are at an advantage compared to students who did not grow up around technology. Some causes of the digital divide are income gaps. Students who are from poor families might not have as much access to technology as students who come from higher income families. This might affect...

The grade level I chose is grades 6-8. The standard I chose is LAFS.68.RH.3.7. This standard is about integrating visual information into print and digital texts. I feel that with my current skill set, I would be prepared to implement this standard to an extent. I still believe I would need more training to be fully prepared on this however.     In CPALMS I chose 7th grade science. One resource I found called "Different Scientists." This allows students to keep up with scientists from all around the world. I would use this resource in my class because I feel it would help keep students up to date on what is going on in the science world.     It is important to be a proficient Internet searcher as a teacher so you can provide the most accurate information for students. Of the Internet searching skills that were introduced this week the one I would probably most moving forward is Google's "advanced search" feature. I would use this feature the most ...
